Keno
Keno is a lottery game played in Australia which is a lot similar to bingo. To participate in a Keno game, players must select 3 up to 10 numbers from a range of 80 digits. A draw is held to determine the winning numbers. If all the selected numbers have been picked on the draw, then the player wins the corresponding prize money for the chosen game. The divisions have been labeled "Spots". Players who choose 3 numbers are entered into the Spot 3 game. Those who pick 4 numbers are entered into Spot 4 and so forth. There are 7 spots ranging from Spot 3 to Spot 10. The odds for winning decrease as the amount of selected numbers increase.
The Keno draw is held daily. A total of 20 numbers are drawn randomly from a machine. These numbers determine the winners for each spot. However, only players of the Spot 10 game can win the jackpot prize. The spots each have their own prizes. These prizes increase depending on the spot game entered. Therefore, getting 4 numbers in a Spot 4 game will notch a prize but getting the same 4 numbers in a Spot 10 game will not earn any amount. Strategy is a major factor for betting in Keno.
There are two types of available betting modes for Keno. The first one is called Standard. This mode lets players select 3 - 10 numbers to use for Keno. It is the most common method in betting in most Australian lotteries. Players who want to increase their chances of winning can use the Reduced System method. This method lets players select more than the set number for the spot of their choice. For example, Reduced System 13K allows players to pick 13 numbers which will be used for Spot 4 games. These 13 numbers are jumbled by the computer to optimize all possible combinations. The costs for entering the different methods vary depending on the probability of getting all selected numbers using the desired mode. Compared to bingo which relies solely on luck to win, Keno lets players decide which numbers to use and which games they would want to play.
